Wenzhou Overseas Media Center (wenzhoudaily) has launched its “Summer Open Day”series activities! On the afternoon of July 30th, the first “Summer Open Day”activity themed with "The Thousand-year-old Remarkable Ou Sculpture" was held in the Cultural Exchange Hall of Wenzhou Overseas Media Center. Zheng Yangfan, senior craft artist, president of the Wenzhou Ou Sculpture Art Association, was invited to share the magical charm of Ou Sculpture, the national-level intangible cultural heritage, with the children from the Youth Branch of Wenzhou International Studies Association, the foreign friends and their children living in Wenzhou

During the activity, these children made an Ou Sculpture work - "Astronaut" by using the putty material and the "Ya Di Er" (a tool for making Ou Sculpture, which is made of boxwood and mainly plays the role of pressing  and shape-fixing). PhD. Iurii from Ukraine is a foreign anchor of Wenzhou Overseas Media Center. He also took his son, who now is a student in a Wenzhou kindergarten, to participate in the "Summer Open Day”activity. He said: "My son grows up in China, so he can get in touch with Chinese excellent traditional culture. That is very important. I hope to have more opportunities to participate in the cultural exchange activities held by the Wenzhou Overseas Media Center."

According to the introduction of the chief of Wenzhou Overseas Media Center (wenzhoudaily), the purpose for them to hold the “Summer Open Day”series activities is to provide more opportunities for the Wenzhou children who are loving Chinese excellent traditional culture to fully experience the charm of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.
