Wenzhou, a famous national historical and cultural city, is well-known as "a southeast city in China with the most beautiful landscape". Wenzhou was called Ou or Dong’ou in ancient times.  In 323 AD, the county was founded and named “Yongjia”. The legend is that there was a white deer holding flowers in mouth and walking around this city when it is under construction. Starting from Dang Dynasty, Yongjia County was renamed Wenzhou. Up to now, Wenzhou has a history of more than 2000 years.

Who designed the geographic layout of Yongjia County? According to historical records, Guo Pu, in accordance with Wenzhou’s topography at that time, chose 9 mountains as Lingguan Mountain, Renwang Mountain, Xun Mountain, Huangtu Mountain and others, forming them into the shape of “Big Dipper”, and built 5 ponds as Fugue, Huansha, Yanchi, Liaobo, Binghu, making the water run through ponds and rivers, finally flowing into Oujiang River. Wenzhou’s unique geographic layout was thus established. The local people regarded Guo Pu as the creator of Wenzhou and appreciated him very much. To commemorate his contribution, the Xikou Mountain was renamed Guogong Mountain. It’s the only scenic mountain within Wenzhou City named after a person.

The story of Guo Pu and Wenzhou really amazed Johnny, who is an American anchor of the Wenzhou Overseas Media Centre and a member of “Hai’Ou Community”. Let's follow Johnny to start this special journey ......
