The English video "The 3 minutes I spent with Ou opera" created by column "Foreigner’s Spotlight" of media “WenzhouDaily” has stood out from the global 430,000 works and won the Excellence Award of "@China" Global Short Video Competition sponsored by press outlet “People's Daily”. Recently, the program’s main staff and video actress, Michaela, an overseas communicator from South Africa, came to Beijing to attend the award ceremony.

According to the introduction of organizer, the "@China" Global Short Video Competition was launched globally in June. More than 430,000 short video works were collected during this period with participants from more than 60 countries and regions on five continents.

Michaela, the main character of the video, is a South African student studying at Wenzhou Medical University now. She has studied and lived in Wenzhou for many years. “I like China and China's excellent traditional culture very much.” Quoted her as saying.”This is the first time for me to come to Beijing. It is my great honor to participate in the grand award ceremony. In the future, I will work harder to become a messenger of Chinese and foreign cultural exchanges and spread the excellent traditional culture of China and Wenzhou.”
Michaela also improvised her talents and sang "I Love You China" in Chinese on stage and received warm applause from the audience. After the award ceremony, the journalist from English Channel of the People’s Daily interviewed her. Speaking of the experience of filming "The 3 minutes I spent with Ou opera", Michaela said that China had a lot of good things to show to the world. And the world can understand what ‘s happening in China through these videos.

It is understood that the Ou opera, formerly known as "Wenzhou Luantan", is one of the national intangible cultural heritages and has a history of more than 300 years. Most of the Ou opera’s repertoires are based on folktales and historical stories. In the video "The 3 minutes I spent with Ou opera", it recorded such a section that Michaela was learning Ou opera from Cai Xiaoqiu, head of the Wenzhou Ou Opera Troupe. This English short video, which has been pushed at home and abroad through the Wenzhou Overseas Publicty Base and the various online platforms from other major media, has received numerous praises.
