On the afternoon of May 10, the final review for selection of the “Culture City of East Asia 2022”hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism was held in Beijing. After the on-site assessment by the review committee, combined with the preliminary review in the previous stage, Wenzhou stood out from the 5 candidate cities, ranking first in total score.
The selection of "Culture City of East Asia" is Asian first international cultural city naming activity initiated by China, Japan and South Korea. It is an important achievement in the humanities field of the China-Japan-South Korea leaders' meeting, and has been a brand of regional cultural cooperation in East Asia.
It is reported that the review committee will select 2 domestic cities to be the "Culture City of East Asia 2022". The selection results will be officially released after the approval procedures are completed. The elected cities are planned to be jointly awarded the plaques by the ministers of culture of the 3 countries on the 12th Meeting of Ministers of Culture of China, Japan and South Korea this year.
