In the past 2 days, more than 470 2-wheeled electric vehicle owners and cyclists in Wenzhou have received text messages from the traffic police department to remind them of traffic violations. Today, the reporter learned from the Municipal Public Security Traffic Management Bureau that it has piloted the off-site traffic violation management and control system over 2-wheeled electric vehicles in the urban area by optimizing and upgrading "electronic police" equipments. According to the relevant person in charge of the traffic police department: "These optimized and upgraded 'electronic police' are mainly aimed at 2-wheeled electric vehicles. The contents of traffic violations includes running red lights, driving the wrong way, illegally carrying people, incorrect parking, not wearing safety helmets, etc. " At present, the traffic police department has upgraded "electronic police" equipments at 50 key intersections and road sections such as Renmin Road, Xueyuan Road, and Fudong Road, to snapshot 2-wheeled electric vehicles’ traffic violations. The "electronic police" equipments will be further promoted and deployed at more sections in Wenzhou in the future.

It is reported that there are more than 3.5 million 2-wheeled electric vehicles in Wenzhou now. Traffic accidents caused by 2-wheeled electric vehicles (including motorcycles) account for 40% of the total traffic casualty. 2-wheeled electric vehicles’ traffic violations not only affect the civilized image of Wenzhou, but also lay a hidden safety hazard in road traffic, which is a major problem for urban traffic management. For these traffic violations snapshotted by the "electronic police", the traffic police department will send reminder text messages and record them down.
